Lawve AI x Anthropic
Lawve AI is a launch connector of Claude for the Legal Industry, bringing skills written by legal practitioners into Claude.
On 12 May, Anthropic launched Anthropic Claude for the Legal Industry (opens in a new tab), with connectors to legal tools and data from partners including Harvey, Thomson Reuters and iManage. Lawve AI is one of the launch connectors. With the Claude Lawve AI connector (opens in a new tab), Claude can find and apply skills written by legal practitioners, each signed by its author.
Claude can already draft and reason about legal questions. The connector adds the method a practitioner applies to a specific task, such as the order of the tests or the thresholds an expert checks first. Anthropic describes Lawve AI as "a curated library of legal AI skills written by practicing lawyers".
A skill in practice
Ask Claude whether a recruitment tool falls under the AI Act's high-risk categories. Claude searches Lawve, finds Werner Plutat EU AI Act System Classifier (opens in a new tab), a skill by a legal engineer formerly at KPMG, and applies its classification steps to your case.
The connector searches the catalogue by topic, jurisdiction, language or workflow. Before Claude acts, it tells you which skill it chose and who wrote it. You can open the full method and check each step against your own practice.
Methods from practitioners
At launch, the Lawve catalogue holds 106 skills from 35 contributors. Lawyers, in-house counsel, law professors and legal engineers write them, each in their own field. They cover the detail that decides many legal questions, such as a procedural rule in one jurisdiction or the drafting conventions of one language. Every skill names its author, so you know whose method you are relying on.
The best legal methods live in the heads of practitioners. With this connector, a lawyer at any firm can apply them in Claude and see exactly whose method they are following.
Your data
The connector is read-only and reaches only the public catalogue. Claude sends Lawve the search terms it uses to find a skill. Your documents and the rest of the conversation stay in Claude. Skills support professional review. They are not legal advice.
