During my career, I’ve developed AI strategies and roadmaps, identified use cases, selected AI tools, and built AI "Skills," structured instructions for LLMs. I’m excited to share a new one:
𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿: Available in Lawve AI & Github!
This is a demonstration skill designed to help in-house legal teams review outside counsel invoices against OCGs, approved rates, discounts, and budgets, benchmarks, and generate draft reports, MBRs/QBRs, scorecards, and recommendations.
It’s built to:
• Flag issues
• Compare time, staffing, and spend
• Generate draft reports and scorecards
AI is useful for outside counsel billing reviews because it can handle tedious invoice analyses faster than manual review; highlighting guideline violations, duplicate charges, and inefficiencies. It could help legal departments enforce billing rules, reduce outside counsel spend, and free up people for higher-value work.
This skill works best with e-billing exports from Brightflag, Legal Tracker, CounselLink, SimpleLegal, and similar LEDES-supported tools, whether shared as single/multiple files or zipped. It can also review PDFs and other documents containing invoice data, to an extent.
This one goes beyond AI instructions. Outside counsel billing analysis is complex, so this is closer to an AI workflow. It can process LEDES exports, apply OCG rules, and produce structured outputs. I used OpenAI Codex and Python to support the financial and analytical work. Creating a polished PDF output with AI took additional effort, check out the below link to a sample PDF. Also, I shared the AI Governance Reviewer skill last week.
I’m looking for my next role after a layoff. My work has focused on legal, technology, and operations, including using AI for measurable value. I’m also open to consulting and contractor opportunities. If this aligns with your team’s needs, I’d be happy to connect.
