About

Most legal advice for frontier tech starts from fear: what could leak, who could copy, what must be locked down. I start from a different question: how should your knowledge flow? If you're building something that pushes the boundaries of human knowledge in AI, biotech, or any frontier field, you've probably felt the false choice. Locking everything in reduces your chances to cooperate and collaborate. Meanwhile traditional open-sourcing may not be commercially viable. Both treat protection and sharing as if they contradict each other. They do not. They are complementary layers of one system. I design that system. IP, contracts, trade secrets, licensing, and governance structures, not as isolated specialties, but as the legal architecture that determines how knowledge flows: what stays in the core, what opens at the edges, and on what terms. Release timing built on how ideas actually spread (Rogers' diffusion curve, applied as a licensing roadmap). Structures that hold across the jurisdictions that matter to you. Background: Turkish-qualified attorney; PhD researcher in open source AI and intellectual property at the CZS Institute for AI and Law, Tübingen; boutique consultancy practice serving frontier tech companies across Turkey, Germany, and the Netherlands. Here I write about knowledge governance: for founders who refuse to choose between protecting their work and letting it matter in the world. If that tension sounds like yours, my messages are open.

A close reading of EU copyright law and what it means for a new class of digital artefact In October 2025, Anthropic announced Skills, a new digital artefact that is utilized for prompting tasks that require formalized, procedural instructions. Anthropic defines Skills as “organized folders of instructions, scripts, and resources that agents can discover and load dynamically to perform better at specific tasks” (Anthropic, 2025). Skills cover many domains such as law. Legal Skills are utilized for many legal tasks such as regulatory compliance, legal drafting, research & analysis and so on. These Legal Skills could also be developed and shared openly through online platforms such as Lawve AI. Originality Test for Skills Intellectual property status of Skills is unclear. At the first glance, copyright law seems to be relevant as Skills are mostly text based instructions that include specific formatting and formats such as YAML frontmatter. S...
